From working with back pain sufferers my entire adult life, I've learned that when people are suffering, they will go to great lengths to find relief. Unfortunately, too many people are given very useful but incomplete information about what to do in order to get relief and regain control of their lives. I also know that people who are suffering can develop feelings of fear, anger, betrayal, and even hopelessness when their treatments don't deliver as promised. The trust they once had with their health care provider starts to diminish, and they don't know where to turn. Here is an e-mail I got from a young girl that illustrates my point: I've tried every homeopathic remedy and every remedy with all these anecdotal positive results. I will never again be duped. I'm sorry, but I am jaded with this type of thing. I'm not spending a dime on anything with promises. Mostly they are false. It is my belief that if our health care providers helped to educate us a little more, we...

Have you ever noticed how attached people can be to negative beliefs -- especially the ones that are practically ruining their lives? Read this... Sometimes when you try to help someone think more constructively, all you get is an argument. But in the logic of those arguments, you'll find two glaring blind spots: * The person underestimates (or denies) the COSTS of having the negative belief * The person overestimates (or denies) the BENEFITS of having the negative belief The person overestimates (or denies) the BENEFITS of having the negative belief The way to get rid of negative beliefs is to engage in an honest and thorough cost-benefit analysis. Our thoughts are magnetic--they draw to us whatever we are thinking. Positive thinking creates positive results. Negative thoughts attract negative experiences and keep us stuck. Many of our fear-based beliefs came from decisions we made from our experiences. For example, if you feel guilty about something you did, you may decide that you are bad and that you don't deserve to be prosperous. In order to move on in your life, and enjoy more love, health, and abundance, it is necessary to release negative self-defeating thoughts and replace them with positive ones. These are called affirmations. You can easily change any negative thought into a positive one. Listen to your daily thoughts and conversations. Whenever you hear a negative one, say, "cancel" or imagine that you are erasing it. You can also imagine that you are burning it away with a laser beam or whatever image works for you. Then change it to a positive one. After awhile, you will begin to do it automatically. You...

In a previous article, I revealed a simple process for writing your own powerful affirmations. I discussed the importance of getting clear about your existing beliefs, writing affirmations to replace those old beliefs with new empowering ones, writing affirmations in the present tense, the importance of consistent repetition, and the necessity of believing in the words you're saying. Today I'd like to share a simple three-step process that can greatly increase the power and effectiveness of any affirmations you use (whether you've written them yourself or use someone else's). In the movie "The Secret," Cathy Goodman shares her personal experience in beating breast cancer without chemotherapy or radiation. She says, "I truly believed in my heart, with my strong faith, that I was already healed. Each day I would say, 'Thank you for my healing.' On and on and on I went, 'Thank you for my healing.' I believed in my heart that I was healed. I saw myself as if cancer was never in my...
